Omagh Early Years Centre is a registered charity and has a voluntary management committee that is made up of parents. The staff and Committee of Omagh Early Years are delighted to welcome you and your child to our Centre. We are aware that entering a group care setting may be hard for some children and parents so we will endeavour to make this a positive and pleasurable experience for you and your child. The primary aim of Omagh Early Years Centre is to facilitate the development of high quality, flexible childcare provision.
Our objectives are to offer:
The core hours of business are 8.30am – 5.30pm however we can accommodate children between 8.00am – 6.00pm by prior arrangement. The Centre has 13 closure days per year, 10 of these are public holidays. A list of closures can be found on the parent’s Notice Board in the entrance hall.
It is important that your child settles into the nursery at his/her own pace. We will work in partnership with you to ensure the transition from home to nursery is as smooth as possible for both you and your child. We generally allow a two week period for settling. However this can be adjusted to meet the individual needs of the child.
Your child’s safety and care is of primary importance to us. We will ensure that only those persons named on the child’s contract pick your child up from the Centre. If someone else is picking your child up, please inform staff prior to your child being collected. We will not allow children to leave the Centre with adults we are unfamiliar with unless we have been informed.
We would welcome any parental involvement in the nursery. If you feel you can help us in any way e.g. with art/craft sessions, reading stories, helping on outings, becoming a member of our Board of Directors, please come talk to us.
Children love messy play and we promote this within our setting. We would ask you to please provide a complete change of clothing for your children.
There are many policies and procedures which are available on request. We would especially encourage you to read the following:
We provide meals and snacks that are varied, healthy and balanced. We have a breakfast club in the morning which ends at 9.15am, snack at 10.00am, lunch around 12.00pm and snack at 3.00pm. Menus are displayed on the front notice board. Pureed food is available for children in the baby room if required. We can accommodate special dietary requirements if needed.
